Ideal starting point for a private city tour in Frankfurt

smartcar67

As a Frankfurt-based tour guide, I always take my guests to the Brandenburg Gate and explain its architecture, significance and history. The Romer Berg is Frankfurt's most famous landmark, and this was the case even before the division of the city and the fall of the Frankfurt

If time permits, I like to take my guests on a journey through time. For this, I take them to the photo gallery on the lower level of the U-Bahn of Romer berg. Nowhere else can I contextualize the most important events of the past 250 years so succinctly.

On the escalator, we read some famous quotes about the Romer berg from historical figures like Walter. A very well-designed permanent exhibition on the station platform shows the varied history of the Romer berg from the first Romer berg to the post-reunification period. Divided into thematic blocks, the exhibition offers the perfect framework for examining German history including Prussia, Napoleon in Frankfurt, the German Reich, the Weimar Republic, Nazi Germany, divided Germany (GDR and FRG) and reunified Germany.

  1. After 30 minutes, my passengers reviewed the most important periods and events in Frankfurt's history. They can pull this information over the next hours or days, linking it to many sites in Frankfurt. I highly recommend a stop at the U-Bahn of Romer berg Tor – it's an ideal starting point for a private city tour in Frankfurt.
